6:22p - R.I.P. Joe Strummer 1952-2002
....

i have no words....

Mike and Jeff cited him as a major influence in their music.

and of course there is Eddie meeting Jack Irons thru Joe Strummer:

When Eddie met Jack Eddie Vedder and Jack Irons met in 1989, at the Bacchanal, where Irons was appearing in Joe Strummer´s band. Eddie had played hooky from his Chevron job so he could do some volunteer roadie work and meet Strummer. -according to Neely Five Against One- Vedder says "I forwent my paycheck that night to go hang out at soundcheck, because to me just to look at Joe Strummer´s guitar was cool. And that night the power went on and I sat in a tiny room with Joe Strummer for like an hour with just this big Mag-Lite on his face. It was a totally surreal experience. I remember he gave me a hit off his cigarrette and it was half pot and half tobacco and I nearly puked".

*******************

i literally cried when i heard Joe Strummer died, he was a musical and political hero to me. I wanted nothing more to see him share the stage with our beloved Pearl Jam on the Riot Act tour. I think it would have been my favorite concert of all time.
